@Skematica unless you get a sweetheart deal like my neighbor got a few years ago on a building, $1, then put a bunch of sweat equity into it. Unfortunately he's older and deciding to start contracting out, where I wish he'd sell for $40K now.
@Skematica If you're capable, have just a little money or can get a construction loan, and don't mind a little crime now and again (or I guess want to buy drugs…), it's ideal. Enough like-minded people decided yes.
@Skematica there's a lot of folks in my 'hood who are rehabbers, but it's a consequence of the circumstances here. Cheap houses in bad shape, but, brick, big, nice old buildings. So it's sensible *if you want to live here* to rehab it yourself.
