I give up. Something has an undocumented dependency on a particular version of glib. Shared libraries were a mistake.
I’m still trying to build Firefox from FreeBSD’s ports tree, on day... 6, I think. It just built and installed lynx. Yes, building Firefox with all the default options builds lynx. Maybe I should just be using lynx. :-/
“Checking whether the C compiler works. Again.”
It reminds me of a project I once contemplated: autoconfd. Start at / and walk the whole tree looking for configure scripts, running them, and autoconf on source dirs without configure scripts, all in a tight loop.
I have lost track of whether this is day 4 or 5 of trying to build Firefox from source. Compilers may have been a mistake.
